F1 is one of the fault codes we're called out to most often on Ideal boilers around the West Midlands, and more often than not it's a symptom of something else rather than a fault on its own.
What the F1 code actually means
Across the Ideal Logic, Logic+, Vogue and Independent ranges, F1 tells you the boiler has detected low system pressure and shut itself down. It's a protective response, not a sign of damage.
What's worth checking first
Try these in order:
- Look at the pressure gauge. A reading below 0.7 bar backs up the diagnosis.
- Re-pressurise to roughly 1.2 bar using the filling loop, then hit reset.
- Keep an eye on the gauge over the following week. If it falls again, that points to a leak or a spent expansion vessel.
If F1 keeps returning
F1 reappearing after you've re-pressurised is a genuine fault, a leaking joint, a worn-out expansion vessel, or a faulty pressure sensor. Repeatedly resetting won't cure it and can leave you without heating or hot water when you least want it.
